Men's Shoot Pattern Clash

One of my first ever menswear shoots! Last weekend I got to collaborate with Sarina Scheepers who is (and has been for a significant time) very high up on my Inspiration List! Very talented and pretty much amazing, she takes me with her on these exciting fashion adventures and I'm reeling at the results.

I decided on the theme Pattern Clash. Think florals mixed with stripes, tartan, Aztec, brocade and general jazz - all married together by complementary colour tones. It's a mixture of the very Old pulled from some of London's best vintage and thrift stores; and very New from this year's graduate designers from the local fashion schools.

Pleather you like it or not.

My Pleather skirt finally arrived from China! This season a leather skirt is a bit of a must-have and I had my eye on the Zara studded rara skirt but its £75.... So while a wait for a payday/pop-up presents/miracles/or money to fall out of my ears I bought this pleather alternative from eBay. I plan to stud it up once they come in the post too. So I've teamed it with my ages-old jumper and my ancient but reliable faith  wedges.

Today I'm wearing:
Jumper with faux fur epaulettes - Next
Necklace - eBay
Skirt - eBay
Wedges - Faith

Ball and Chain

It's been a blue month! Unintentionally as it's certainly not reflecting any form of somber moods, chills or tranquility. Perhaps even the opposite; I'm so busy I feel like my head might just explode - with fashion weeks in full swing and shoots to book. Today I'm wearing something else I snatched up at a bargain price of $2.50 in the States: my velvet shirt.

Today I'm Wearing:
Velvet shirt - Florida, USA
Shoes - Office

True Blue

Sorry hugely for the squinting - its so sunny! What a lovely day for blue. I've spent this afternoon in the garden, not working but enjoying the company of a fox who decided quite confidently to sunbathe next to me. They're more like cats than dogs - they play and chase bits of floating fluff and butterflies and sunbathe!
This is the Kimono I picked up in Florida in a daytime look - but I'm going out for dinner tonight and probably won't change...

Today I'm wearing blue:
Kimono - Florida, USA
Necklace - ASOS
Dress - Urban Outfitters

Holiday Haul

A big reason for being massively absent in August was that I spent a good chunk of three weeks holidaying in Florida. It was the best - all you can eat full fat, fully greasy, feeling full food; soft American accents; the sun; Disney; and of course, the shopping. I'd already made a shopping list and saved for items of brands which I knew would be cheaper in the States but that rapidly went out the window when I came face to face with thrift stores and flea markets - something I could have never anticipated.

Here's the fashion haul vid of some of my favourite things I picked up out there. I spent less than $200 overall in three weeks and came back with at least 7-10kg more!

The day after visiting Disney - and feeling very Minnie Mouse inspired....

Minnie Mouse Headphone!

My gorgeous new double faced watched sitting pretty.

Blogger's Block

If there is such a thing... It's been exactly one month since my last post. That's yonks. I found it really difficult to get back into the swing of things arriving back from Florida - I think I've got post-holiday blues! Work is work, it's cloudy and there's a distinct chill that wasn't there before. The only thing keeping my upbeat is my tan and my Summer clothes. Talk about a serious sufferer of Seasonal Affective Disorder. So here's probably my last post with my bare legs out and summer attire - hello Autumn layering and big big boots!

Today I'm wearing:
Shorts - River Island
Shoes - TK Maxx
Bag - Mischa Barton

Laced Up

I'm not one for see-though clothes as I'd rather put away a few pies.... But this dress was so gorgeous I had to get it. It reminds me of a wedding dress from the 1970s and its just about enough see-though to conceal any  unwanted bulges but too see-through to go without leggings underneath! Although if I did own any matching, classy-looking, hot hot underwear I reckon I'd have a go....

Today I'm wearing:
Dress - Topshop
Necklace - ASOS
Leather Jacket - DKNY Jeans
Bag - Portobello Market - but I've seen it on eBay! (here) and I paid more than £9!

Wings Will Always be my Weakness

Today's been a lazy day doing my favourite things and spending lots of time by myself. The best thing about my outfit today are my new shoes! They are Topshop Unique and picked them up in the Sale for £40 (originally £110! ...I know, bargain!) I love a metallic heel at the moment and wings will always be my weakness. The dress is brand new too from River Island - it comes in tons of colours is is only £30 which isn't bad for the amount of material you get. I added the body chain to give it some shape and reduce the potential tent situation - the back is really nice too - it kind of sits like a halter. Also have the latest Primark bag which every 2nd person in London is also sporting. It's just £12 I couldn't resist the studs....

 Today I'm Wearing:
Cardigan - Mango
Body chain - Urban Outfitters
Studded Bag - Primark

Shoes - Topshop Unique
Spike bracelet - Dorothy Perkins
Watch - Casio

Having a Ball

Today I'm wearing: mint embellished  prom dress from Warehouse and and Topshop flatform plimsolls and wet look leggings.

I did have a leather jacket to grunge up this look for today but its boiling and its taken me by surprise. The dress was in the sale a few years ago from Warehouse which I planned on wearing to the Summer Ball at uni in final year -  but never ended up going. I can't remember ever going to a single Summer Ball! Luckily I was too lazy to sell this on eBay, and the fact that I'm a concrete hoarder has allowed me to fall in love with this dress all over again. It's a bitch to wash but Fashion Over Function hey!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

It's been just over a year since I began this blog! What an amazing year =D Everything has changed and although I'm not 100% where I want to be yet, I'm battling through.....

This time 5 years ago I was gearing myself up to move abroad to France;
This time 3 years ago, I was a graduate in biology and heading for Fashion.
This time last year I was leaving a great job in a fashion buying office to chase my styling dream...

And the last 12 months have been amazing from being the runner up in the styling competition with VERY.co.uk to right up until last month where my styling can be seen on the Italian Vogue website! I'm still working three jobs, 7 days a week and feeling like a fashion nobody and often it feels deflating and stagnant. But I still get whispers of hope that one day I can earn a living doing what I love most.
Well, 366 days given the leap year :/. My bad.

Fashion Haul!

I've made another video! They're not getting any easier but this one is shorter and marginally less painful. Hopefully you'll find it interesting....

For the Love of Red

Oh dear, I have shopped a lot lately... it's kind of embarrassing. However I have had my eye on this dress for ages now and last week it went in the sale online at ASOS and I just had to get it. It's so floaty and easy and bright! One problem is that it creases like crazy. Yesterday afternoon I had lunch on Marylebone High street and when I stood up there were creases all my crotch and midriff! Not a great look - but who cares its red! The dress costs just £16.50 and it also comes in green... :)
Today I'm wearing: ASOS shirt dress, Portobello Market bag, and Irregular Choice Shoes
