Blogger's Block

If there is such a thing... It's been exactly one month since my last post. That's yonks. I found it really difficult to get back into the swing of things arriving back from Florida - I think I've got post-holiday blues! Work is work, it's cloudy and there's a distinct chill that wasn't there before. The only thing keeping my upbeat is my tan and my Summer clothes. Talk about a serious sufferer of Seasonal Affective Disorder. So here's probably my last post with my bare legs out and summer attire - hello Autumn layering and big big boots!

Today I'm wearing:
Shorts - River Island
Shoes - TK Maxx
Bag - Mischa Barton

Laced Up

I'm not one for see-though clothes as I'd rather put away a few pies.... But this dress was so gorgeous I had to get it. It reminds me of a wedding dress from the 1970s and its just about enough see-though to conceal any  unwanted bulges but too see-through to go without leggings underneath! Although if I did own any matching, classy-looking, hot hot underwear I reckon I'd have a go....

Today I'm wearing:
Dress - Topshop
Necklace - ASOS
Leather Jacket - DKNY Jeans
Bag - Portobello Market - but I've seen it on eBay! (here) and I paid more than £9!

Wings Will Always be my Weakness

Today's been a lazy day doing my favourite things and spending lots of time by myself. The best thing about my outfit today are my new shoes! They are Topshop Unique and picked them up in the Sale for £40 (originally £110! ...I know, bargain!) I love a metallic heel at the moment and wings will always be my weakness. The dress is brand new too from River Island - it comes in tons of colours is is only £30 which isn't bad for the amount of material you get. I added the body chain to give it some shape and reduce the potential tent situation - the back is really nice too - it kind of sits like a halter. Also have the latest Primark bag which every 2nd person in London is also sporting. It's just £12 I couldn't resist the studs....

 Today I'm Wearing:
Cardigan - Mango
Body chain - Urban Outfitters
Studded Bag - Primark

Shoes - Topshop Unique
Spike bracelet - Dorothy Perkins
Watch - Casio

Having a Ball

Today I'm wearing: mint embellished  prom dress from Warehouse and and Topshop flatform plimsolls and wet look leggings.

 I did have a leather jacket to grunge up this look for today but its boiling and its taken me by surprise. The dress was in the sale a few years ago from Warehouse which I planned on wearing to the Summer Ball at uni in final year -  but never ended up going. I can't remember ever going to a single Summer Ball! Luckily I was too lazy to sell this on eBay, and the fact that I'm a concrete hoarder has allowed me to fall in love with this dress all over again. It's a bitch to wash but Fashion Over Function hey!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

It's been just over a year since I began this blog! What an amazing year =D Everything has changed and although I'm not 100% where I want to be yet, I'm battling through.....

This time 5 years ago I was gearing myself up to move abroad to France;
This time 3 years ago, I was a graduate in biology and heading for Fashion.
This time last year I was leaving a great job in a fashion buying office to chase my styling dream...

And the last 12 months have been amazing from being the runner up in the styling competition with VERY.co.uk to right up until last month where my styling can be seen on the Italian Vogue website! I'm still working three jobs, 7 days a week and feeling like a fashion nobody and often it feels deflating and stagnant. But I still get whispers of hope that one day I can earn a living doing what I love most.
Well, 366 days given the leap year :/. My bad.

Fashion Haul!

I've made another video! They're not getting any easier but this one is shorter and marginally less painful. Hopefully you'll find it interesting....

Below: images of some of my recent purchases :)

For the Love of Red

Oh dear, I have shopped a lot lately... it's kind of embarrassing. However I have had my eye on this dress for ages now and last week it went in the sale online at ASOS and I just had to get it. It's so floaty and easy and bright! One problem is that it creases like crazy. Yesterday afternoon I had lunch on Marylebone High street and when I stood up there were creases all my crotch and midriff! Not a great look - but who cares its red! The dress costs just £16.50 and it also comes in green... :)
 Today I'm wearing: ASOS shirt dress, Portobello Market bag, and Irregular Choice Shoes

Stage Fright

Today I did my first ever fashion haul. It was so scary talking to the camera and can't physically bring myself to watch it fully! Hopefully they'll get better when I get used to talking to myself out loud alone....
Hope you enjoy :)

Parrot Print Pow

You will not believe my joy I've finally found a playsuit that's not too crotchy, long, tight, or boring....!
It's got a backless detail with a cool tropical parrot print all over. It's loose fitting for those steaks I like to consume and I've teamed it with some clash print red gingham shoes.

Today I'm wearing: Parrot Print ASOS playsuit, Irregular Choice gingham print bow wedges, ASOS gold cuffs, and ASOS orange clutch.
....Woah I'm a bit ASOSed up today!

Photo Shoot: Wonderland Tea Party

Photographer :: Sarina Scheepers
Model :: Becky @ Oxygen Model Management
MUA :: Justyna Ilczuk

 Assistant :: Monique Lodewyks

Last Sunday I was extremely lucky to yet again work with the fabulous team above. It's truly exhilarating to watch ideas come together to make beautiful images. The shoot's theme was a whimsical tea party but I felt it was important to keep it current by incorporating this season's biggest trends including clash prints, cut out dresses, pastels and pretty-preppy. It took place last Sunday, despite the rain, in a stunning rose garden at Morden Hall Park.

Key words: tea party, pretty, pastels, candy, sweet, dreamy, bubbles, roses, nature, fresh, candy floss, picnics, pure, floral, soft, musing, charming, bliss

The best thing: this shoot is being published in hot online Polish magazine Con Fashion! AND one of the images is already published in VOGUE ITALIA'S Website Click Here. These opportunities wouldn't be real if it weren't for the super talented Sarina Scheepers. She not only does awesome fashion but also weddings and babies if you ever require her services :)

Brighton Fashion Week 2012

Last week I skipped the Jubilee celebrations and hopped over to Brighton for a several days to catch Brighton Fashion Week. It was literally amazing - Brighton is brimming with huge up and coming talent and their sense for fashion is so innovative and fresh. This in turn attracted some big fashion names to the event and whole thing was booming.
Here's some of the outfits I wore for during the week:

The week started with the Brighton Frocks Show which presented a mix of designers all dedicated in communicating their avant-garde sensibility towards popular culture and current affairs through their garments. My favourite show was the Zeitgeist show the following day which took us on a journey to the next level in terms of fashion and here's some of my favourites:

Karin Wuthrich had a gorgeous collection with a distinct link to nature in the structural pieces which had an almost insect casing type feel to it. Clean cuts and simple colours, the silhouettes were very current.

Below is the trailer before Jess Eaton's Collection the Second Roadkill Couture for EatonNott which explains her art-fashion work. I'd been so excited about this collection and it certainly did not disappoint. Think horse tails hanging from models' necks, beautiful buttflies sculpted from pigeon wings, swans wings gracing silk evening gowns and lots of fur....

Joey Bevan hosted the weekend of BFW and we also got to see his amazing SS12 collection - another one of my favourites, I want this jacket!

I literally took zillions of photos and videos - too much for one blogpost... You can find more on my facebook page, click here.

DIY Stud Wedge High Tops

Last year I wouldn't be caught dead sporting a pair of trainers trotting down the street. However the genius that is Isabel Marant has incorporated a hidden heel into a pair of high tops! I've been wanting them for some time now but the challenge of saving £440 was beyond me and then emerged the high street equivalents! And despite being truly clever, functional and fashionable - I fear this trend might be a one hit wonder in my wardrobe so the high street has as always completely satisfied me. Here's a few you can find about:

I chose to invest in the ones from River Island for £40 as they were super comfy and fitted well. And of course I couldn't resist my usual urge to stud them up and here's how I did it:

 This was super fun to do and I feel ace walking around in these babies but please know that while images suggest otherwise, this is a 2 person job (somebody needs to hold the shoes down and someone strong needs to do the drilling....) and don't do them on your dining room table unless you want tiny holes through the wood!

Scallop Cut

 A Fashion Crowd First sporting flats in an OOTD post but these sparkly flatforms have been my wardrobe life the past few weeks. They're super comfy and nude so pretty much with go everything. I picked them up from Forever21 back in February on a weekend trip in Belgium. It was snowing at the time! glad I saw the potential :)

High Hem

Today's the first day this year I've braved bare legs. But it had to be done. My dress wouldn't cope with covered ones and I've been dying to wear this one for a few weeks now. It's a dress-up-dress-down kind of dress and that's not the best bit - you can have a serious monster day and nobody has to know. Only down side to this dress: it's bloody long. I'm wearing whack off heels and it's dragging....
 Today I'm wearing: Love Label Dress, vintage white leather jacket and a mermaid green shiny Luella bag
